Besides "Mad Men," "Big Brother," and "True Blood," you won't want to miss this interesting television experiment.

On "The Human Family Tree," narrated by Kevin Bacon, about 100 people in the Bronx, N.Y., learn that all humans are related.

The synopsis of the show reads, "on a single day, on a single street, the DNA of 100 people...trace the ancestral footsteps of all humanity."

The show airs at 9 tonight on the National Geographic Channel.

Each week, I will spotlight a web site for TV.

This week's spotlight is for mylifetime.com, home of the new season of "Project Runway" 10 p.m. on Thursdays. "Models of the Runway" airs one hour later.

Now, if you miss an episode of this former Bravo series, you can watch it online at mylifetime.com. The site has extra clips of Tim Gunn in the workroom.

You can also watch full episodes of "Army Wives," and "How I Met Your Mother" and all of the network's original movies.

Real Housewives of New Jersey

Here is the first six minutes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. (Warning: There are two expletives in this clip)

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is like a reality TV version of The Sopranos. Except this is from the perspective of the female members of the family.

Okay, the family members aren't mobsters, or goodfellas but Teresa's husband does carry big wads of cash and only pays in cash. Hmmm.... Teresa says "the economy is crashing" so that's why they only pay in cash. Hmmm..... And Caroline's son wants to open a strip club -- that's his life ambition. Hmmm.

Caroline, who is sort of the matriarch, of the group and Dina and Teresa don't like Danielle with her plumped up lips and chest. Danielle also has a sordid past which includes an arrest record.

Jacqueline is in the middle. She's the nicest of the ladies and is caught in the middle between all the women.  Caroline, Dina and Jacqueline are family and they've been best friends with Teresa forever.

The fourth episode found Danielle upset about her past indiscretions coming back to haunt her and Dina, Teresa and Carolina using the information to malign her character.

The show is like a soap opera and it airs on Bravo and it's pretty addictive.

Cartoon Network announced last week that it has picked up "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" for a second season. The series is No. 1 with boys ages 6-11. A whole new generation is falling in love with Star Wars. That explains why my 10-year-old nephew Timothy loves Star Wars and loves playing with that Star Wars light saber I gave him in October.

The season finale of seaon one airs 9 p.m. March 20.

About this blog

Herald-Journal Entertainment Editor Jose Franco loves TV and watching DVDs on TV. As a kid, he watched as much TV as he could on his parents' black-and-white set with the bunny-rabbit antenna. On clear days, the family could watch ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. He loved watching everything from "Good Times" and "Happy Days" to "The Waltons" and "Three's Company," from "Land of the Lost" to Porky Pig cartoons. Saturdays were spent watching "American Bandstand," "Soul Train" and a Saturday afternoon movie like "Creature from the Black Lagoon." He didn't get cable and color TV until college in the 1980s and was surprised to hear all the colorful words you could say on television. It was the birth of MTV and music videos. Over the years, his taste in television shows has expanded and become more refined, but he does admit to enjoying an occasional "Who's the Boss?" marathon. His favorite shows, at the moment, include "The Sopranos," "Weeds," "Nip/Tuck," "Big Brother," "Friday Night Lights," "Prison Break," "Lost," "Ugly Betty" and "Heroes." His Netflix list is filled with TV shows he's yet to watch such as "The Wire" and "House." Not enough hours in the day, he says. He loves TV so much that he even mourned when "Rome" and "Gilmore Girls" went off the air. And he thinks there's nothing better than sharing his thoughts on a favorite TV show around the watercooler at work.
