Here's some great performances from last week. These were submitted by coaches.

Chesnee hitters: Matthew McLellan went 5-for-11 with a double and four walks last week. David Jones was 4-for-8 with a double and three RBIs. Dustin Shurbert had two doubles and three RBIs.

Brandon Henderson, Chesnee: The pitcher went 2-0 on the week with 19 strikeouts. He pitched a no-hitter against Landrum and a shutout against Blacksburg.

Will Ovenden, Dorman: Ovenden set a school record with his 31 at Carolina Country Club on March 18.

Brad Sill, Dorman: Sill shot a personal best competitive round posting a 66 in the second round of the TW Memorial, leading Dorman to a school-record 8-under par round of 280.

Holden Goodson, Byrnes: The soccer standout had five goals last week.

Sloan Gilliam, Dorman: Gilliam added two homeruns, bringing his total to five, with 4 more RBIs. He pitched the winning game over previously undefeated Byrnes, allowing only four hits and two runs.  He recorded 7 K's and only 2 BB.  His record is now 3-0.

Hunter Cole, Dorman:  Cole was 7-for-15, with two doubles and three RBIs.

Track athletes at Coaches Classic in Columbia: Dorman’s Marcus Rowland won the 100-meter dash in 10.4 seconds. The Dorman boys 4X100 relay team won the race with a time of 41.56. Spartanburg’s Patria Norman won the long jump with a leap of 17-feet-1.

Shelbey Spencer, Broome: The pitcher has rolled through region play without giving up a run. She has a 0.30 ERA in eight starts. She’s struck out 85 and walked nine.

If I get more, I'll add them!

About this blog

High school sports are my favorite to watch. Sure, I enjoy the Carolina Panthers and college basketball and football, but nothing compares to high school athletics. From cross country and swimming to football and basketball, the sport doesn't matter. They're all interesting and all fun to watch. This blog is dedicated to prep sports but that isn't all. While I'm a sports writer for the Herald-Journal, I'm also a music freak who loves XM Radio and my iPod. So while I'll mostly blog about sports, I'm going to throw some music in there also. This blog, though, isn't just about me. I want feedback and lots of it. I want you to ask questions and, when there's something to write about, I'll do a mailbag edition where I answer those questions. Thanks, and I look forward to blogging.
